UNH Campus Ministry and Cornucopia collecting spring food baskets

Each year the UNH Campus Ministry and UNH's food pantry, Cornucopia, collect food and other items to assist those in the UNH community who need a helping hand. During the Thanksgiving and December holidays, more than 40 families benefited from the community's generosity.

Once again, the UNH Campus Ministry is coordinating its spring campuswide food collection. More fresh items are included on the suggested items list this year as organizers hope to celebrate Earth Day, the arrival of spring and the availability of fresh vegetables and fruit.

Departments and individuals are encouraged to use their creativity and imagination when packaging the items. Baskets need not be elaborate--any sturdy box will do. Seed packets, bright spring items and even some fresh "patio" plants might be nice additions to the baskets.

Family sizes vary from small (2-3 members) to large (8-10 members). Organizers anticipate distributing the same number of baskets during this season as were distributed during the holidays.

Food baskets should be delivered to the Waysmeet Center or be ready for pickup by Tuesday morning, April 19. Departments and individuals wishing to donate a basket or those who need to have a basket picked up should contact Marianne Fortescue at 2-2197.
