Student
achievement honored at Convocation

UNH will recognize the academic achievements of 1,826 honors students
and 303 Presidential Scholars at its 2004 Honors Convocation at
2 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the Whittemore Center Arena.
The guest speaker for this year’s ceremony is Alasdair Drysdale,
professor of geography and chair of the Department of Geography.
The title of his address is “Lessons from Toot and Puddle
(and Monsieur Eek).”
The ceremony is the university’s way of recognizing the outstanding
academic achievement of its upper-class students. Juniors and seniors
with a GPA of 3.2 or greater will be recognized as Honors Students.
Seniors with a GPA of 3.7 or greater will be recognized as Presidential
Scholars and will be awarded gold cords along with their citations
to be worn at Commencement May 22. Recipients of the following awards
also will be recognized during the ceremony: the Dean Williamson
Award, The John W. McConnell Scholarship, the Alumni Meritorious
Service Award Association Prize and the University Folk Club award.
The ceremony will feature musical performances by the UNH Wind Symphony
and the UNH Chamber Singers. A reception will follow the ceremony
on the north lawn behind the Whittemore Center. Tickets are not
required. Faculty are invited to participate and process with the
platform party. If faculty would like to participate, please contact
