UNHM celebrates 25 years of sign language program

The University of New Hampshire at Manchester announces the 25th anniversary of the Sign Language Interpretation Program.

A variety of activities are scheduled the week of April 19 to commemorate the program and the history of American Sign Language and the Deaf community in the United States. All activities are free and open to the public.

UNH Manchester offers the only bachelor degree in sign language interpretation in northern New England. The program recently became the first interpreting program in the nation to be found in compliance with the National Interpreter Education Standards of the Conference of Interpreter Trainers (CIT). In addition, UNH Manchester houses northern New England’s most comprehensive collection of books and media materials on sign language interpretation.
