Environmental Conservation Studies
Honors-in-Major

Honors-in-Major Program Requirements

Students are required to maintain an overall 3.2 grade-point average and a 3.2 in major coursework.

Students must successfully complete at least 12 credits of coursework in the following courses:

  • BIOL 412H Principles of Biology II (4 cr.)
  • NR 602H Natural Resources and Environmental Policy (4 cr.)
  • NR 701H Ecological Values and Ethics (4 cr.)
  • NR 720H International Environmental Politics and Policies for the 21st Century (4 cr.)
  • NR 643H Economics of Forestry (4 cr.)

As an alternative, you may take two courses from this list and one more honors course from another area. The three courses you choose must support your Environmental Conservation Option or your Environmental Conservation Studies Specialization. These courses will involve additional reading and writing assignments and tutorial meetings.

Students must successfully complete:

  • NR 799 Honors/Senior Thesis (4 cr.)

The student's thesis will be written under the direction and guidance of a regular member of the department faculty.
