Directed Research Projects At EcoQuest

Directed Research Projects (DRPs) [semester programmes only] provide students with the opportunity to work in small teams (4-6 students) to study individual aspects of larger ecology and resource management issues. Directed Research Projects are carried out in the last four weeks of the semester. Projects can focus on terrestrial, fresh water, or coastal and marine ecosystems and resource management issues. All projects offered by EcoQuest have both scientific and societal relevance. The outcomes and findings of the students' projects can therefore contribute to 'real-time' research and management. Participants work closely with faculty members on experimental design, data collection, and statistical and policy analysis. Academic staff and highly skilled field leaders accompany and guide students during all Directed Research Projects. Students are required to produce a written report and give an oral presentation of their findings.
