The String Project

The String Project: violin, viola, and cello instruction for elementary school students

• The UNH String Project is a teacher-training program providing violin, viola, and cello instruction to children in the New Hampshire seacoast area.
• Classes are taught by University of New Hampshire string majors under the supervision of experienced strings instructors. Use this link to see who they are.
• The goal of the String Project is to provide experience in teaching for string education majors, and to provide low cost instruction to local elementary school students.
• The String Project currently offers group classes at beginner and intermediate levels.
• An important aspect of the program is that students are charged affordable fees in order to make the program available to children who might not otherwise have access.
• The UNH String Project has two concerts each year. They are presented in December and May in the Bratton Recital Hall on the UNH Durham campus.
• The UNH String Project is a member of the National String Project Consortium (NSPC http://www.stringprojects.org/).
• The NSPC was founded by the American String Teachers Association (http://www.astaweb.com/stringproject.htm)
• The UNH String Project has received grants totaling $16,600.00 from the NSPC and the D’Addario Foundation (http://www.daddariofoundation.org)
