Brief Biography of Mimi Bravar

Mimi Bravar, a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, pursued her Masteršs and Doctoral work at Boston University. She served for many years as violist and pianist with the Buffalo Philharmonic under Josef Krips, principal violist with the Vermont Symphony and as assistant principal violist of the Cabrillo Festival under Dennis Russell Davies. She performed throughout New England, the mid-South and at the Sedona Festival as a member of the Windsor String Quartet, the Great Bay Chamber Players and the Goldman String Quartet. Ms. Bravar has taught at the University of Buffalo, the Longy School, the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, St. Anselms College, Phillips Academy/Andover. She recently retired as Director of Music at Phillips Exeter Academy where she received the Founderšs Day Award for exceptional service to the Academy as well as the Brown Award for Outstanding Teaching. She also received Chamber Music Americašs Award for Excellence in Chamber Music Teaching.
