Brief Biography of Prof. Robert W. Eshbach

Robert W. Eshbach is an honors graduate of Yale University, where he majored in music history and minored in German literature. He holds a certificate in violin from the Vienna Conservatory in Austria, and an M.M.in violin from New England Conservatory. His teachers have included Marianne Pashler, Broadus Erle, leader of the Yale Quartet, Walter Barylli,concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic and State Opera Orchestras, and Eric Rosenblith. He has studied chamber music with Paul Doktor and Eugene Lehner. Prof. Eshbach has performed as concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician in the US and Europe. He was a founding member of the ProArte Chamber Orchestra of Boston. Eshbach holds the academic rank of associate professor of music at UNH,where he teaches violin and viola, music literature, coaches chamber music,and is the conductor of the UNH Symphony Orchestra.  He has taught chamber music for Musik am Semmering, the summer program of the Vienna Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, and is former instructor in violin at Clark University, in Worcester, Massachusetts. He currently teaches violin for the New England Conservatory Preparatory School, where he was chair of the string department for eight years. "Stars do exist even when they're not being looked at...
