Art on the Menu

For groups of 10 or more, the Thompson School of Applied Science, in collaboration with the Museum of Art, has created a special program to enhance group visits to the University of New Hampshire campus. Art on the Menu is designed for visitors of all ages who are intrerested in combining a tour of the current exhibitions at the Museum of Art with an art-inspired, elegantly served, affordable luncheon at Cole Hall. A specialized menu is personally tailored for each group, and prepared by restaurant management students from the Thompson School of Applied Science. Art on the Menu is only available during the academic year. For more information, contact Catherine A. Mazur by phone at (603)862-3713, or via -mail at catherine.mazur@unh.edu.

Volunteer Opportunities

Does spending several hours a week in an energetic environment surrounded by great art and interesting people appeal to you? Then please consider becoming a member of the Museum of Art Guild of Volunteers. To sign up for a new series of training sessions taking place in the fall of 2010, e-mail Catherine A. Mazur.

Our volunteers serve as knowledgeable teachers (docents) who lead tours of our exhibitions. In addition, they serve as Ambassadors for our public programs, providing visitors with information about the Museum of Art and our exhibitions. Volunteers help prepare our opening receptions and organize fund raising events, assist the museum staff with general office duties, and work on countless other tasks that are essential to the successful operation of the Museum of Art. A number of activities, such as occasional “field trips” to other art museums and galleries and an annual picnic, are offered especially for our volunteers.

Volunteers who can devote at least two hours a week are always needed. A schedule to fit each individual's needs may usually be arranged. For those interested in leading exhibition tours (primarily with visiting school children), free training is offered in a fun, supportive group setting each month. No previous training or experience is required—only a desire to learn and to make everyone's visit to the Museum of Art an inspiring and memorable experience.
