CAMP PHILOSOPHY
Individual rower and coxswain development is the priority. Participants will leave the camp with a greater understanding of rowing and coxswain techniques, team dynamics, and the importance of flexibility and fitness. It is our goal to provide an environment that is filled with learning, healthy challenges and FUN! |

This fee covers five days of rowing/coxswain instruction, a camp t-shirt, meals at the award winning New England Center, a full evening program and on-campus lodging in a campus dormitory. |

INSURANCE AND MEDICAL INFORMATION
Because of the rigorous daily schedule, each camper should arrive at camp in good physical condition. Every effort will be made to protect the camper’s health and safety. The University’s health center is available; a hospital is nearby and readily accessible. Every camper will be covered by a limited accident insurance policy. However, the University and camp staff assume no responsibility for accidents or illness. |
GROUPINGS
Participants will be placed by level, based on skills and experience. When you complete the application, please indicate your rowing or coxing ability based on the descriptions below. Placements can be changed as necessary. |
| BEGINNER WITH EXPERIENCE- LEVEL I |
Experience required! Appropriate for individuals who have already learned the basics of rowing/coxing through a novice program. Drills and conscientious instruction will ensure quick learning and progress. |
| INTERMEDIATE- LEVEL II |
For the rower/coxswain with 3 months-2 years of experience. Individuals will heighten their overall comprehension of the rowing stroke/coxswain technique. This will lead to greater ability to apply these skills in racing situations. |
| ADVANCED- LEVEL III |
For the rower/coxswain with 2+ years of experience. Participants will polish established technique to increase effectiveness and speed. Approaches will be reviewed to enhance racing strategies and further develop mental strength. |

CAMP LOCATION AND FACILITIES
The University of New Hampshire is located in Durham, a small semi-rural town 15 minutes from the Atlantic seacoast. UNH is equidistant (80 minutes) from metropolitan Boston, MA and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. |

The University of New Hampshire Boathouse is located at Jackson's Landing- about 1 mile from campus. Water sessions will be held at the boathouse using UNH's equipment. |

UNH's Campus Recreation Department is housed within the Whittemore Center. This facility offers state of the art equipment as well as space for Pilates and indoor rowing. |

Rachel Rawlinson , Camp Director , is the Head Coach of Women’s Rowing at the University of New Hampshire. Rawlinson has been coaching at UNH since 2002. In her first year as head coach of the program, the women’s varsity 8 earned a bronze medal in the 2007 New England Championships. Rawlinson began rowing at age 13. She completed her collegiate rowing career by her and her teammates earning the school 's first ever gold medal at the New England Championships in the Women 's Varsity Eight race. The following week, Rawlinson sat 7 seat in the Varsity Eight that earned a silver medal at ECAC 's and helped the team win the All-Around Women 's Points Trophy. This accomplishment led the team to the IRA 's the same year. |

Kelly Harris , Assistant Camp Director, was introduced to the world of rowing 15+ years ago. She began as a coxswain in junior high school and ended her collegiate career with a gold medal at the New England Rowing Championships, the all-around women’s point trophy at ECAC’s that same year and a bronze medal at the CRASH B’s indoor rowing competition. After participating in several development camps, Harris continues her career in rowing by coaching. Starting her career at her alma mater, UNH, Harris has coached at Vassar College, Marist College, and is currently the Head Women’s Coach at Marietta College. |

Laura Hafner, Rowing Coach, started rowing in college in 1980 and has been in a boat ever since. Her many rowing accomplishments include a Collegiate National Championship, HOCR gold, numerous Masters Nationals medals and 3 World Master Championship gold medals. Laura is currently the Rowing Director of Great Bay Rowing in Durham and continues to row and coach. |

Brian Mehr, Rowing Coach, is in his 9th year of coaching. He started rowing at the University of Rhode Island, rowing all four years and graduating with a degree in Computer Engineering in 1999. In his junior year, he was a member of the Varsity Heavyweight 8, which made the finals of the New England Championships and went on to win Silver at the ‘98 Dad Vail. His senior year, he stroked the Varsity Heavyweight 4 which reached the finals of the ‘99 Dad Vail. Brian served as team treasurer his junior year and team President his Senior Year. Also during his senior year, he earned the award for Most Valuable Oarsman.Coah Mehr has had the opportunity to coach at the University of Rhode Island, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, and various clubs. Since 2001 Mehr has been coaching at the University of New Hampshire. He began by taking the position of Interim Varsity Men's Coach. During his tenure as the men's coach- both varsity and novice- the men have qualified/medaled in both regional and national competitions. Brian currently is the Assistant Coach for the women's team at UNH. |
Stephanie Oleniak, ATC, N.H.LAT, is a 2005 graduate of the University of New Hampshire's Athletic Training Education Program; receiving a Bachelor's of Science degree in Kinesiology: Athletic Training. After gaining her national certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) she worked for a year at Fairfield University as an Intern Athletic Trainer, primarily with the Women's Volleyball and Women's Lacrosse teams. In the fall of 2006, after attaining licensure through the state of New Hampshire to practice Athletic Training in the state, she decided to accept a
