Class Projects 
ME 441 - Introduction to Engineering Design and Solid Modeling
There are several project requirements in this course. One of the first projects student participate in as team is a project where the purpose is to design and build a bridge capable of supporting the class textbook. The entire weight of the textbook was to be supported for no less than 10 seconds. The book was placed with its long dimension perpendicular to the long dimension of the bridge.
Criteria:
- Materials are limited to notebook paper, scotch-tape and staples
- Bridge must span a gap of 13 inches
- Bridge must be high enough so that every part of the bottom of the book is at least 6"
- Above the bridge abutment when the book is placed in the structure
- Bridge must fit into an 8" x 8" x 15" box
- Bridge must rest freely on the abutment. It may not be taped or attached to the abutment in any way
