Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering

The department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Hampshire invites applications for a Lecturer position beginning August 15, 2012.  The person will be responsible for the laboratory section of courses related to thermal fluid sciences, controls, mechanics and materials science.  The lecturer will report to the course professors and is expected to collaborate on the successful delivery of the courses.  The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Develop, refine, and execute laboratory experiments
  • Debug experiments and perform simple repairs when necessary
  • Full time contact during laboratory hours
  • Responsible for explaining the concepts of the experiments.  These concepts include systems dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and statistics.
  • Collaborate with the course professor to refine course content
  • Manage the collection and grading of laboratory reports

 

The position requires a M.S. and/or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering along with professional and/or academic experience and accomplishments, and a demonstrated record of exceptional teaching.  The candidate should provide specific and detailed descriptions of their previous laboratory experience in their application.  The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
