Juvenile Delinquency – The Effect of Peer and Parental Factors on Middle and High School Adolescents
Teenagers are faced with peer pressure that may lead to poor decision making and possibly even deviant actions (Cammarota & Ginwright, 2002). Predictive factors cited most widely in research on adolescent problem behaviors are parental and peer influences. These influences are highest among middle and high school students. Using Cohn, Rebellon, & Van Gundy (2005) New Hampshire Youth Survey data, I will analyze three variables (substance use, violent crimes, and property crime) and two theories; control and differential association theory and conduct a secondary analysis to examine these predictive factors.
