2009 Family Boat building
YOUR FAMILY CAN BUILD A WONDERFUL SAILBOAT IN THREE DAYS
The UNH Marine Docent Family Boatbuilding Program makes it possible no matter your skill level. An experienced builder will work with you every step of the way to guarantee success.
Family boatbuilding is grounded in the belief that a family will bond and grow together by completing a grand project together. In the last eight years we’ve helped fifty families get on the water together and enjoy the experience of a lifetime.
In the spring of 2009 we are planning to offer a 12’ sailboat at an estimated cost of $950 for everything needed but paint, oars, life jackets, and sailing lessons. A professionally made sail is included. The marine plywood hull has a 5’ beam that easily carries two adults or even three in light wind. She is equally adept as a row boat for calm days at the lake.
Building will take place on May 15, 16, and 17 at the UNH Kingman Farm in Madbury.
Click here for more information on the boat, the process of building, and how your family can qualify as participants. Each family must include at least one child age 12 to 20. Extended families or single parents are encouraged to apply.
