Francine Hall - Profile

Professor Hall (Ph.D. University of Toronto) is Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire and former Chair of the Academic Senate. In 1994-95 she was the COAA Fellow in the Provost’s Office at The University of Rhode Island. She has also directed a project on Technology Utilization for the Council of Presidents of The New England Land Grant Universities.

Dr. Hall taught on the management faculties at Western Michigan University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and in 1979-80 was the Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Leadership Department at the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Her co-authored books include: The Two Career Couple (Addison-Wesley, 1979), The Management of Affirmative Action (Goodyear, 1979) and Experiences in Management and Organizational Behavior (Wiley/St. Clair, 1975-1996). Dr. Hall has also published in several journals, including Organizational Dynamics, The Executive, and the Journal of Management Education. In 1994, she was awarded The Rothlisberger Prize for Writing by the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society and Sage Publications.

A member in the Academy of Management, Dr. Hall has served as an officer in both the Midwest Academy of Management and the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society. She also served on the Editorial Board of The Academy of Management Review and Exchange (The Journal of Management Education).

Her consulting clients have included AT&T, Bell Labs, General Electric, Prudential Insurance Company of America, The Allen-Bradley Company, Continental Insurance Company, and the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Office. In addition, she has presented management seminars and workshops in the U.S. and abroad.

Dr. Hall’s research interests center on Human Resource implementation. Her work has focused on managerial careers, skills, and the interface of personal and professional lives. She has written about dysfunctional behavior in the workplace and changing workplace cultures for the invisible disabled. As a teacher, she is committed to the improvement of undergraduate education and, especially the development of writing skills.

Fran Hall is past Vice President of Pro-Portsmouth, a member of the Rye (NH) Planning Board, and the Rockingham County Republican Executive Committee. She is also a member of Trinity Church (Boston) and the College Club of Boston. Dr. Hall resides on Wentworth Road, Rye, New Hampshire and is the mother of two married children.

Her administrative experience in higher education is extensive and includes accreditation teams, chairing the ROTC Board of Governors, the UNH Judiciary Committee, and the Academic Senate.
