We have a new team! The school year is under way and students have chosen their senior design projects. LunaCats proved to be the most popular choice and as a result, is now the largest senior design team in the Mechanical Engineering Department! This year we are also a multidisiplinary team for the first time with two students from the Computer Science Department on board! Can't wait to start creating this year's Lunabot!

May 30th, 2011:
The team did well at competition. We were able to get 3 test runs in before the competition. Unfortunately we broke a drive shaft on one of the drive motor during the last test run. With only 30 minutes till quarantine, we did the best we could to repair it. The repair did not hold up during the competition run so we demonstrated our excavation and depositing techniques. Our Controls team did such an excellent job that barely any data was transmitted during our competition run. This led the NASA EDGE commentators to believe that our lunabot was autonomous. The link below will direct you to a video of Day 1 of the competition, the LunaCats come in around 1:21:00. The team had a great time at competition and is looking forward to coming back next year.
