Engineering is everywhere! How do we bring it into the elementary classroom and support the Next Generation Science Standards?
KEEPERS for Teachers provides a hands-on approach to discover how engineering and the engineering design process can be brought into the classroom, solving real-life problems and learning how everyday items work.
* A weeklong PD opportunity from 9am - 1pm that provides ideas, practical projects, and resources to help integrate exciting engineering lessons into the K- 8 classroom.
* Approaches to STEM-infusion will be explored, as well as how to assess engineering design challenges and projects.
* Teachers will be introduced to classroom management strategies for enabling learning in engineering.
* Also how to identify appropriate engineering curriculum materials and learn about UNH's STEM-bassadors and the STEM Teachers' Collaborative.
By the end of the week, teachers will leave with a binder full of resources, websites, activities, and research they can implement immediately in the fall! Most importantly, they'll have begun developing a network of fellow teachers and STEM professionals, eager to make their journey to STEM integration successful.
