The Granada Study Abroad Program in Spain is a spring semester program at the University of Granada offered in conjunction with the " Centro de Lenguas Modernas ", a division of the University of Granada located in an attractive downtown building. All of the facilities of the University are available to our students. Students from all over the world study in the "Centro" program and Spanish is therefore the common language.
Granada, an Andalusian city located in southern Spain, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, less than an hour away from the Mediterranean Sea and crowned by the Alhambra, a special beauty and a visit here will be an unforgettable experience for all of those who decide to make the journey. This internationally renowned city boasts a rich Arab and Christian past as well as its own vibrant present with a friendly inviting atmosphere. A member of the UNH faculty will be in residence in Granada to assist students, administer the program, and teach one course.
Eligibility
The FALL Granada study abroad program is geared toward students at the beginner/intermediate Spanish level. The SPRING program is open to students who have successfully completed at least Spanish 631 or its equivalent and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5, and who will have at least sophomore standing in the year of participation. Applicants from institutions other than UNH are also welcome to apply.

The Spring 2013 Program
The spring 2013 on-site orientation will begin Monday, January 14, 2013. Students should arrive before this date. Final exams end Wednesday, May 22nd. Students should not plan to depart before Thursday, May 23rd. There will be no classes the week of March 25-29th for the Easter Holidays.
Course Registration, Financial Aid, and Scholarships
Participants will be enrolled as full-time students in SPAN 686 (Spring Semester). Course selection will be made during post-acceptance orientation meetings.
Financial Aid and Scholarship application procedures are the same as for an on-campus semester.
Tuition and fees
The student pays UNH tuition and a course fee, which cover tuition and academic fees in Granada, health insurance, room and board (three meals a day), planned excursions and activities (including theatre, concerts, athletics, day trips, museums, trip to Madrid, trip to Valencia and Barcelona, and other cities such as Cordoba, Sevilla, Mérida, and more), and cell phone. Housing
Students are housed with local families. Housing includes hot shower, laundry services and three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner.) Usually internet is available but not in all cases. There is wireless internet available at the Centro de Lenguas Modernas from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Spring Program Courses
Students take five classes while in Spain for 4 credits each and receive 20 credits at UNH. Class meetings are Monday through Thursday, with possible excursions Friday through Sunday. Four courses are taught by University of Granada faculty and one is taught by the Resident Director. All courses are taught in Spanish. Two courses will be taught by specially selected faculty from the University of Granada and for the remaining two courses students will follow either the Language and Culture track or the Hispanic Studies track, depending on language ability, which is determined by a placement exam at the host university.
