What is New Hampshire? (A collection of data for those seeking answers)
There
are many ways to describe
New Hampshire
and many ways to understand
New Hampshire
. By living and working here, we all come to understand the state through direct
contact with its people, places, and politics. This package of graphs,
tables, and text captures the reality of
New Hampshire
in a different way: through things that can be measured, compared, and tracked
over time. The collection is a reference book that the Center compiled for
the 2005 associates of Leadership New Hampshire. Many of the graphs are
from reports the NH Center for Public Policy Studies has published over the last
few years. Others come from the 2003 Kids
Count report, the
State
Data
Center
operated by the NH Office of Energy and Planning, the US Census, and Governing
Magazine’s most recent State
and Local Source Book. The final section of the package,
starting on page 59, invites readers to consider the state’s tradition of
local control by comparing their hometowns with other towns in the state.
The section includes instructions on how to navigate the US Census web page to
access a host of information about “Our Towns.”
