Biography

Ashley Marks
Lynn , Massachusetts
English/Journalism, Stoke Hall 422

Interests include: In my free time I love to shop, hang out with my friends, go to the beach, play sports and just have fun!! :) I also love to write and read, which led me to choose journalism as my major.

I am basically your typical 17 year old. I love to shop, go to the movies and hang out with my friends whenever possible. I have always loved to be active and I enjoy playing football and softball with my friends. I have been downhill skiing each winter since I was 7 years old. I also love to read, and writing is my true passion. No wonder I am majoring in journalism!

My family is very important to me, and I love to spend time with them. My 15 year old brother and I play miniature golf and hang out, even though we never stop fighting. My 3 year old cousin is the one person in this world that can always make me laugh.

I was born and raised in Lynn , Massachusetts and couldn't imagine growing up anywhere else. Lynn is a big city with tens of thousands of people, 4 high schools, about 5 middle schools and over 20 elementary schools, all of which are very over crowded. Lynn has been pegged as the “City of Sin ” by many, but I love where I live. I have known all of my neighbors in my neighborhood for ever, and we often times go out without locking our doors because we feel so safe and secure in our neighborhood.

Coming to College...

As I prepare to move into UNH on August 27 th, I am having mixed emotions. I am so psyched to be finally going off to college and being able to have the opportunity to meet new people and to get a first class education. On the other hand, though, it's sad to leave what I have at home: a wonderful family, a familiar environment, and the best friends in the whole wide world.

My family means the world to me and they have been so supportive to me. Going to college is going to be tough on both of us. My parents have to let their little girl go, and I have to leave a place that I have called home my entire life. My friends and I have had so many good times and now we are all going off to college in a bunch of different places and different states. My best friend and I haven't gone a day without seeing each other for the past seven years, and I don't know what I am going to do without her. She is going to be in Portland, Maine. My other best friends are going to be in Salem, MA, Dartmouth, MA, and Providence, RI . My mom tells me that true friendship conquers all, and I sure hope it can conquer the miles and miles of distance between us.

I am worried about my roommate, my classes, the food, the parties, and the showers. I'm worrying about everything that I can worry about. I cannot wait to go to UNH!!! I am trying to put all of my worries aside and start enjoying my last summer at home.
