What to Bring 
(and what to leave behind)
  Microwaves: Microwaves rated with a power output of 800 watts or less will be allowed in student rooms. Microwaves can either be a stand alone unit or a part of a microwave-refrigerator combination unit. Refrigerators less than 35" and that draw no more than 1 amp of power are also permitted. 
 

What You Should Bring: While these basic furnishings are supplied, you will need to bring the following items:

Bikes – Many students bring their own bikes to campus.  While some halls have indoor bike rooms where students can lock up their bikes, other halls do not have the space for that type of facility.  All halls have outdoor bike racks provided.  Please click here to see a chart to help you determine what type of  storage is available for your bike. 

 

 

 
 

 What will I find in town for supplies?

Although the mall is only 15 minutes away, here are some downtown Durham businesses where you can find the supplies needed to decorate your room.

 

Brooks
located in the Mill Road Shopping plaza. They carry greeting cards, school supplies, snacks, toiletries, plus medicines you may need. They also offer the only place in town where youc an get your film developed -- either send-away or one-hour.
Durham Marketplace
(DMP lovingly referred to as "The Dump") located in the Mill Road Shopping Plaza carries all your grocery needs plus a bakery, hot and cold foods, and the best selection of salsas and chips around.
Durham Marketplace
Ace Hardware
located about 5 miles away in Lee, NH. This is your basic hardware store supplying cinderblocks, wood for lofts, fans, tools, etc. They are great about cutting wood to the exact size for a small fee.

The Outback
located on Main Street with a variety of unique gifts, cards, and custom picture framing. They also carry tons of great items for room decor like posters, tapestries, and string lights.
Town & Campus
located on Main Street with a variety of school supplies, greeting cards, and UNH paraphanalia such as shirts, hats, stickers, etc. They also supply the greek houses with greek t-shirts, mugs, etc. They have a great selection of postcards taken of the campus if you want to write to friends and family.
