Welcome,
Incoming LGBTQA
Students!

We are delighted that you will be joining us here in Durham this autumn. UNH offers a supportive and welcoming environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students. Our office is just one of a network of people and programs who help promote the academic success of LGBTQ students.

Along with buying your textbooks and meeting your roommate, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs should be on your list of places to visit once you arrive on campus! We're easily located in the heart of the Memorial Union Building (or "the MUB", as everyone here calls it) on the third floor, across from the Coffee Office.

We're looking forward to meeting you and helping you to get acclimated to life at UNH, but there are a few upcoming events we want to alert you to for now!

Garden Party: The Annual LGBTQ Fall Reception
Each year, the University sponsors a reception to welcome new and returning LGBTQ students, staff, faculty, and friends. This year's reception will take place the second week in September in the garden behind Hood House. Watch for more details...

First Meeting of the Alliance
Immediately following the welcome reception is a meeting of the UNH Alliance : the campus LGBTQ undergraduate student society. The Alliance is one of the oldest campus-based gay student organizations in the nation, having been founded in the early 1970s!

The Alliance 's leadership will be at the Garden Party, and can answer questions about the Alliance , what it's like to attend a meeting, as well as talk about the social events they're sponsoring this autumn. For more information, you can contact the Alliance directly via phone at 603/862.4522 or via email at unhalliance@gmail.net.

We hope that you find the University of New Hampshire a challenging and supportive place to pursue your education. There is much for you to do here, and we look forward to the contributions you will make to the intellectual and cultural life of our community.

Enjoy your summer, and we look forward to meeting you in the fall!

Yours in Pride,
