What you should talk over with your roommate(s) before you arrive and how to do it. Plus, tips from some experts.

Your Roommate(s)
Hall Dues
The Residential Life Staff and building Hall Council work to provide non-alcoholic activities for students in each residence hall. Events might include hall barbeques, ice cream socials, pizza nights, Halloween parties, ski trips, and hiking trips. Hall Dues are collected during opening as a means to fund these events throughout the year. Dues are between $20-$25 and are good for activities for the whole year! Look for a hall dues table during check-in.
Staying
Connected

Email, voice mail, snail mail -- your connection to the outside. Check your email from home. Plus, all on-campus students have direct, unlimited internet access through ResNet with no monthly charges.

Peer-to-Peer
File Sharing
Peer-to-peer (P2P) applications such as BearShare, Warez, Morpheus, BitTorrent, iMesh and KaZaA, make it easy for users to exchange files with each other over the Internet. While these programs are a good way of sharing information, they are not entirely harmless and can cause problems for your personal system as well as the University network. The University cannot protect you from a copyright complaint.

Permits

Freshmen Living On Campus may be able to get a resident permit if there are any left over after the general sale. The general sale is going on now on-line. Seniors are given the first crack, and then the Juniors are invited to apply, then the Sophomores. This year, there has been a renewed attempt by the administration (not the Parking Office particularly) to strictly limit the number of Freshmen who get parking permits. Therefore, you will likely have to have an excellent reason to get a resident permit, and then only if there are any available to sell.

Choosing Your Housing Options

There are three offices at UNH that work closely
together to provide the unique experience of living on campus:
Housing
Residential Life
Dining
Housing handles billing, room assignments, maintaining the facilities and furnishings, repairs and renovations and cable television.  This department manages the Gables, Woodside, and Forest Park (married/ family housing apartments).
Housing
Residential Life is responsible for the quality of life within the residence halls on campus.  This office supervises the Hall Directors (RHDs) and Resident Assistants (RAs) that work and live in the halls.
Residential Life
Dining provides superior hospitality services
and caters to students' needs to make them feel at home. All students living in the residence halls will purchase a meal plan from among three choices.
