Michael Berry holds a B.A. magna cum laude from the University of New Hampshire, 1971, and completed a Certificate Program in Transformational Leadership in conjunction with the Harvard Business School during his employment with the university. Mike is the President and Principal of Michael P. Berry Consulting and Investments, a Boston-based consulting and investment firm specializing in the hospitality industry for both commercial and non-commercial clients. He has over forty-three years of managerial experience including leadership roles in The Cheesecake Factory, where he served as President and CEO; Barnes & Noble Booksellers, where he was also President; and The Walt Disney Company, where he served as Senior Vice President of Operations for The Disneyland Resort. In the non-commercial area, Mike won national recognition and virtually every industry award as the Director of Auxiliary and Dining Services at Harvard University. Mike was recognized for his achievements by IFMA with the Silver Plate in 1996, the highest award in the restaurant industry, as well as the prestigious award of Restaurant & Institutions magazine: The Ivy Award for the Best Non-Commercial Foodservice in the United States. The investment arm of his company specializes in making micro loans at low or no interest rates to organizations and people who provide housing and food for low income families, as well as start-up support for several institutions that provide education and jobs in rural areas. Mike is also a member of the Board of Directors of Corinthian Colleges, Inc., a Trustee of the University of New Hampshire Foundation, and a member of Old South Church in Boston.
