Professor Manuh's thirty publications reflect her research interests in women's rights and empowerment issues in Ghana and Africa, African development issues, contemporary African migrations, and higher education in Africa. She was born in Kumasi, Ghana and was educated at the University of Ghana (LLB Hons), the University of Dar es Salaam (LLM) and Indiana University, Bloomington (Ph.D. Anthropology). In addition to her work at the University of Ghana, she has held a visiting appointment at Indiana University, Bloomington and has been a visiting fellow at the University of Birmingham. Since 1999, she has maintained close working relations with the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town.
