UNH and Durham - Walk NH 2009 Event

University of New Hampshire and the Durham Community
celebrate Walk NH Week

On Wednesday, June 3rd the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and Durham will celebrate Walk NH Week 2009 with a 3-mile walk around the UNH campus and the town of Durham.

NH Governor John Lynch has proclaimed June 1-7 Walk NH Week as a way to promote walking and help keep New Hampshire residents on a healthy path. The goal of Walk NH Week is to inspire participants to continue walking as part of a healthy lifestyle long after the June events end.

Walk NH Week is an event designed to encourage people of all ages to get out, get moving, and participate in a one-to-three mile community walk. The UNH and Durham communities will join other groups from throughout New Hampshire in recognizing Walk NH Week 2009 by holding a community walk on June 4, 2009.

When: Wednesday, June 3, 2009, @ 12:00pm There will also be a 2nd start time of 1pm to walk in an effort to support any office staffing issues.

Where: UNH Whittemore Center - Participants should gather at the main entrance of the UNH Whittemore Center approximately 20 minutes before the walk to allow time to check-in and/or register. The walk will take place across the UNH campus and the town of Durham.

Distance/Route: 3.1 miles (participants may adjust their walk to the distance of their choice based on time and ability)

FYI - UNH at Manchester is also hosting a 2 mile walk on June 4th at 11:00am with a rain date of June 9th. Participants from the Manchester area should gather at the main entrance of our Manchester campus at 400 Commercial Street, Manchester, New Hampshire. Beverages: In an effort to be sustainable and limit waste, we are asking participants to please bring your own personal recyclable/reusable water bottles. Water coolers will be provided along the walking route.
