UNH staff orientation program, Getting Started @UNH continues every other Monday in the MUB, Room 302, from 8:30am - 3:30pm

Professional Development

Within the Professional Development menu pages, you will find program information and resources for all University of New Hampshire staff members:

  • Managing @UNH - The 10th offering of this program will be held fall/winter 2010. This program is delivered for UNH Supervisors and Managers by invitation.
  • Supervising @UNH - The 13th offering of this program is being held fall/winter 2010. This program is designed to equip individuals transitioning into the role of supervisor for the first time in their UNH career.
  • Administrative Office Professionals - The next AOP conference will be held in March 18th, 2010.
  • Professional Learning Assistance - financial assistance information is support of professional development opportunities.

There are a variety of resources available for UNH staff in support of their professional development. Some of those resources are:

  • USNH Tuition Waivers - (available after staff completes their introductory period.) Tuition waivers are for credit and non-credit courses, and staff members may enroll at UNH Durham/Manchester, Keene State College, Plymouth State University or Granite State College.
  • UNH Professional Development and Training and The Center for Graduate and Professional Studies provides academic, professional and personal development credit and noncredit courses and programs to adults in NH and surrounding areas.
    • UNH Professional Development and Training (formerly DCE) offers course on our Durham campus, the UNH Continuing Education Center at Pease, and at our Manchester campus.
    • Center for Graduate and Professional Studies brings the resources and expertise of the University of New Hampshire to the population and economic center of the state, to focus and extend UNH's professional education programs, and to further distinguish professional graduate education at UNH.
  • IT Training Center – Located at 1 Leavitt Lane (West Edge), Campus.
    UNH employees may attend Computing & Information Center (CIS) Training Center classes led by UNH CIS trainers at no cost to employee/department or vendor led classes for a nominal fee.
  • Staff Professional Development Program - A professional development grant opportunity for benefits eligible UNH Durham and Manchester staff. This grant is open to applications on a quarterly basis. For application and deadline information, please follow the web link.
  • Development programs offered by the Operating Staff, Professional Administrative and Technical or Extension Educators councils.
  • Speak with your supervisor/manager regarding available departmental funding and support for off-campus skill enhancing coursework/seminars/conferences.
  • UNH supports upward mobility - Current UNH Job postings are available for review/application for qualified UNH internal applicants. New staff must complete their introductory period prior to applying for another vacant position
