Here are a few steps to get you started
successfully at the University of New Hampshire. Learning more about the
University is just as important as learning more about your new place
of employment.
- Attend the in-class session of Getting Started @UNH. This full
day program will give you a tour of the UNH Campus, speak to some of
the rich history of UNH, and help you make the right choice of available
health and insurance plans. All core benefits (medical, dental, life
insurance, long term disability, and flexible spending accounts) are
effective the first of the month following date of employment if enrollment
is completed and received by Human Resources within 30 days of employment.
If enrollment is completed between the 31st and 60th day of employment,
benefits are effective on the first day of the month following receipt
of all completed enrollment forms by Human Resources.
*You will be provided an opportunity to get your questions answered
and complete your USNH Flex enrollment form & applications for core
benefits (medical/dental) on this day.
- Review your retirement information and submit your enrollment paperwork
for participation in UNH's retirement program through TIAA-CREF
and/or Fidelity
Investments as soon as possible. There is no deadline on these applications,
but payroll deductions and University contributions do not take effect
until the 1st of the month following your enrollment application's being
processed. Read the USNH
Retirement Plan Overview.
- Obtain your UNH picture ID card from the ID
Office located in Room 101, Holloway Commons. The Dining / ID Office
Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
- Obtain your UNH
Fac/Staff Parking Permit, or arrange for other UNH
Transportation Services.
- Review your NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION
HANDBOOK and share it with your family members. (*updated March 2008)
- Complete your Payroll Direct Deposit Form(s) - (Net and/or Fixed) and Submit to: UNH Payroll, 1 Leavitt Lane. Direct
deposit is encouraged for all faculty and staff. The NET form is also used
to determine where your pay stub is delivered (campus or home address). You can also elect to stop the printing of your pay stub and access your payroll information thru your bank and/or the WISE (Web Information System for Employees) site. *Please note that your WISE account is not activated until you are scheduled for orientation.
- Meet with your supervisor and review your department orientation processes
to determine if there are any other items that need to be discussed
by you and your supervisor, assisting in your successful orientation
at UNH
