2010 AOP Keynote Speaker

Dr. Angela Taylor
Diversity and Leadership Consultant
Guardian Quest, Inc.

The keynote message by Dr. Angie Taylor will address the challenge campuses and individuals face when balancing diversity objectives with performance objectives. Learn how the commitment to diversity can actually support the pursuit of excellence.

Dr. Angie Taylor has a long history of excellent leadership, staff development and commitment to diversity. During a 20 year career at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), she served as Associate Vice President for Student Success Services, Assistant Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations and Senior Associate Director of Athletics.

Outside of the University, she served as a partner/consultant for Diversity 2000, conducting workshops and trainings on the management of cultural diversity in the work place. She is currently a diversity and leadership consultant for Guardian Quest, Inc. and provides workshops and seminars for corporate, non-profit and faith-based clients across the country.

Angie has an earned doctorate in Educational Leadership, holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Policy (MPA) and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration; all from the University of Nevada, Reno. Taylor became a central change agent at UNR bringing diversity to intercollegiate athletics by establishing Pack PAWS (a support and fundraising group for the women’s sports program); overseeing a budget which grew from approximately $700,000 to $2.5 million and an increase in personnel from seven to 27 while at the helm of the program for ten years.

Dr. Taylor has served on numerous committees, task forces and boards for the University, the Northern Nevada community and nationally. She has been a United Way of Northern Nevada board member, cofounder and past president of the Northern Nevada Black Cultural Awareness Society, board member of the Nevada Women’s Fund, the National Conference of Christians and Jews board of directors and has worked with the Junior League of Reno, the Girl Scouts Council of Northern Nevada and various other stakeholder groups. Nationally, she’s served on several National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) committees as well as the executive board of the National Association of Collegiate Woman Athletics Administrators.

Angie is a passionate, energetic presenter and has dedicated her life to making people and organizations better. She has received many awards and recognitions for her leadership and community service including membership in three halls of fame and inclusion on two “people to watch” lists.
