Operating Staff Traditional Leave
return to Paid Leave
Operating Staff on Traditional Leave earn vacation time based on hours
worked up to those hours budgeted for the status position (non-status hours
worked and supplemental compensation such as overtime are excluded) and
on years of service to the University.
Accumulation
Accumulation of Traditional Leave is based on years of service, as shown in
the chart below. The maximum accumulation is 35 days and maximum
number of vacation days for payout at termination may not exceed
30 days. These numbers are pro-rated for flex-year appointments.

For the purpose of policy, years of service are defined as
calendar years of employment, i.e., 12 consecutive months from
the date of hire equals 1 calendar year.
Vacation Usage
Supervisors are required to grant, at times mutually agreeable between
staff member and supervisor, a minimum of 12 days of Traditional Leave
per fiscal year (pro rated for percent time positions).
