New Hire Orientation
Getting Started @UNH...
Is an orientation program for new staff members, designed to assist you in your successful transition within the University of New Hampshire and the Durham community. In joining the UNH community, you are invited to share in the University's mission, learn about our history, organizational structure and the University's strategic plan that will influence each your work life here at UNH.
As a new staff member you will also have the opportunity to learn about University policies, the campus and surrounding communities, resources, education opportunities, your employment benefits package (benefits eligible positions only) and the enrollment process and timelines applicable to your benefits eligibility.
We realize that orienting to a new position can be challenging. Our orientation program serves to address many of your information and resource needs as you begin your position here, as well as to acquaint you with the University and Durham communities. It is our hope that participation in this program will assist you in your transition.
Attendance dates for orientation are managed and scheduled by the Office of Human Resources (HR) based on the successful completion of the departmental hiring process.
New hires are notified of their orientation date in their benefits packet mailing from HR that includes their confirmation hire letter and orientation attendance information. If you have any questions about this process please call 862-0501. A copy of the confirmation hire letter is also always sent to the hiring supervisor via e-mail.
The benefits packet will contain instructions for parking on your scheduled orientation date along with materials on your core USNH benefits (medical, dental, life insurance and retirement). Please bring these materials with your on your scheduled date.
Getting Started @UNH takes place in the Memorial Union Building (MUB), Room 302, (unless otherwise noted on the schedule). The program timeline is from 8:30am - 4:00pm. Recommended attire for the day is business casual.
A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
