a) In order to initiate the hiring process, each department chair must develop a Diversity Recruitment and Hiring Plan of Action. The Faculty Recruitment and Hiring Check-list must accompany the Position Vacancy Information form, the Position Title Form, and the Advertising Billing Form (Forms b-d).

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
The University of New Hampshire, Department of Education is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Special Education and Administration and Supervision Programs. The department consists of graduate programs in Teacher Education, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Administration and Supervision, Reading, and Counseling. We offer the M.Ed., M.A., CAGS, and the Ph.D. Teaching and scholarship are viewed as complementary endeavors, and we value highly our ties with arts and science faculty and our close collaboration with public schools. The department includes 33 tenure-track faculty plus part-time clinical instructors and an excellent support staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach five courses per year in the Administration and Supervision and Special Education Programs. These may include personnel and communication, principalship, special education administration, and assessment/teaching of special education populations. Advise Master's, CAGS, and Ph.D. students in Administration and Special Education, including dissertation advisement. Work closely with the public school community in New Hampshire on matters of school reform and professional development for administrators and special education professionals. Develop an appropriate line of scholarly
activity that addresses critical state and national issues of educational leadership with exceptional populations. Participate in program, department, and university service activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate in Educational Administration, Special Education or related field. Extensive and successful experience as a public school administrator, experience in public school teaching, and knowledge of current recommended practices in curriculum and instruction of special education populations, especially at the secondary level. Experience in school districts of various sizes and various ethnic and racial populations. Evidence of ability to succeed as a teacher of graduate students and dissertation advisor. Evidence of ability to maintain a productive level of scholarly work that can contribute to the improvement of public schools. This position will commence in September 2001 and will be a full-time academic year appointment.
