GROUNDS LEAD WORKER (ASSISTANT GROUNDS SUPERVISOR)

Function of Job:
Under general supervision of designated supervisor, to lead and assign work to a crew of grounds maintenance workers.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and instruct grounds maintenance crew in road grading and repair, sprinkling, street cleaning, snow removal and drainage, as required.
- Assist in supervising the care and maintenance of lawns, shrubs and hedges, tree removal, planting and spraying.
- Supervise grounds maintenance crew in campus clean‑up projects, and assist in moving/special events projects as required.
- Assist in supervising weed eradication.
- Operate all related equipment and make necessary repairs, as required.
- Perform periodical inspections of all assigned work areas.
- May be required to report to work under emergency conditions, as necessary.
- May design, install and supervise installation of brick, concrete or paved walkways, estimating and ordering materials, as required.
- May supervise students and/or temporary staff.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
- Three years of related experience.
- Supervisory ability.
- Knowledge of operating related machinery.
- Current driver's license for state of New Hampshire, or valid commercial class B motor vehicle license if required.
- Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to perform brick laying work if required by department in which employed.
- Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.
- New Hampshire pesticide applicator's license.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- High school graduation or G.E.D.
