Function of Job:
Under general supervision, to be responsible for planning and maintaining campus landscape.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for planning and lay-out of campus planting areas, including trees, shrubs, flowers, and walkways.
- Design landscape planting to enhance visual effect and to control pedestrian pathways.
- Plan and direct timing, types and quality of purchases after review of prices and quality.
- Responsible for pruning, weeding, fertilizing, spraying, and mulching in existing planted areas.
- Plan and maintain greenhouse to raise annuals, biennials, and perennials.
- Develop, design, and operate nursery for shrubs, trees, and a variety of plants.
- Advise on lawn maintenance and/or research alternatives.
- Direct work of planting, fertilizing, and weeding workteam.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Assist with general grounds work, such as mowing lawns and triming grass, as required.
- May respond to storm related emergencies during winter months for snow and ice removal.
- May supervise staff and/or student workers.
- Related duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
- One year of specialized training and one year of grounds work/landscape experience.
- Knowledge of greenhouse/nursery operations.
- Knowledge of plants, insects, and disease control.
- NH Driver’s license. Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- NH Pesticide license.
- Associate’s degree in horticulture or related field.
