ELECTRONICS ENGINEER II

Function of Job:

Under administrative supervision from the faculty or staff member(s), to plan, develop, evaluate, and test new and/or existing electronic circuitry and/or instrumentation of advanced design for use in research or other specialized fields. 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Suggest and develop new or improved instrumentation and/or circuit designs.
  2. Test and evaluate specialized electronic equipment.
  3. Interpret applicable codes and standards.
  4. Set up and schedule maintenance programs for electronic equipment.
  5. Supervise circuit development and construction work by electronics technicians.
  6. Instruct electronics technicians in circuit design and use of specialized electronic instruments.
  7. Consult with senior staff on design of equipment for use in research.
  8. May be responsible for maintenance and repair of electronic circuits and equipment by electronics technicians.
  9. With assistance from staff members, develop and deliver instructional seminars.
  10. Devise test procedures for electronic equipment to be used by less experienced personnel.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned.  

Minimum Acceqptable Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  2. Two years experience in professional engineering work.
  3. Ability to design specialized electronic circuitry and equipment.
  4. Administrative ability. 

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree in Engineering.
