Like all great adventure-seekers, Karin Coe knows that adventures need not be of epic proportions to be satisfying. She is content to take her adventures where she can get them, "even ones close by." Her love of nature and exploration has led her to the heights of numerous peaks in the White Mountains, but she approaches even her daily excursions as opportunities for discovery. For instance, rather than treading familiar paths, Karin's daily walks find her exploring the depths of trails near her home.

Karin's adventuresome spirit also manifests itself as a love of learning. Initially, she was attracted to the University because she "liked the youthful appeal that a college campus offers, and the opportunity to advance an education." Karin began her career at UNH fifteen years ago when she started as an Administrative Assistant II in CIS. For the past six years, she has held the position of Senior Business Services Assistant with CIS BSC. Throughout her time at the University, she has taken numerous credit courses, participated in many CIS training classes, and taken part in various day seminars offered through DCE. When asked what skills are needed for her current position, Karin replied, "An understanding of MS Office, Banner Finance and HR applications, as well as oral and written communication skills, and a good understanding of UNH policy and procedure." When asked what she found most satisfying about her position, Karin stated, "working with new applications and learning those applications with co-workers and customers - teamwork."

Karin's emphasis on teamwork is not surprising, considering the value that she places on community involvement. In fact, Karin has held the position of Chair of the OS Council for the past year. For the two years prior, she held the position of Co-Chair. Of her experiences with the Council, Karin states, "My experiences have given me a better sense of community and what being on a college campus is all about. I do appreciate all of the dedication that everyone involved has put forth in trying to make each topic come out with a positive light."

When not working to improve the University community, or furthering her education, Karin can be found antiquing, walking, hiking, or taking rides in the country. "I love New Hampshire, and wouldn't live anywhere else even if you paid me," Karin says, "You can take the girl out of New England but not New England out of the girl!"
