Paid Leave - Bereavement

Bereavement / Funeral Leave *
for
PAT/Extension Educator/Academic Administrator/Faculty


Bereavement Leave

  • 5 working days, including holidays, of bereavement leave for the death of an immediate family member. Policy defines "immediate family" as spouse, mother, father, stepparents, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepchildren, sister, brother, stepbrother, stepsister, and individuals living within the faculty/staff member's household.

  • 1 working day for the death of other relatives. Other relatives include grandfather, grandfather-in-law, grandmother, grandmother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandson, granddaughter, uncle, spouse's uncle, aunt, spouse's aunt, nephew, spouse's nephew, niece, spouse's niece, great uncle, spouse's great uncle, great aunt, spouse's great aunt, first cousin, spouse's first cousin.

Extended Bereavement Leave - PAT/EE/AA/Fiscal Year Faculty

After supervisory notification and the use of bereavement leave, an eligible employee may use Family Leave for extended bereavement leave in the event of the death of an immediate family member.

*Also applies to Operating Staff who were grandfathered under the former leave program.
