Campus Planning Assistant (Temporary, part-time hourly, no benefits)
UNH Energy & Campus Development Start Summer 2012
Pay Rate: Expected pay rate of up to $10 per hour with scheduling on a project based – week to week basis. Commence immediately upon hiring. Work Study eligible. For students, consideration of position continuation in fall 2012 semester.

UNH Campus Planning seeks enthusiastic undergraduate or non-student with interests and/or course of study in planning, natural resources, architecture, public administration, GIS or engineering to assist with the varied project tasks during the summer construction season. This position is intended to provide applied work experience as well educational opportunity for individuals in a mentored environment.

Projects on tap which this individual could assist with:

  • GIS Field Work
  • Traffic Safety Signage installations
  • Moped and Bicycle infrastructure installations
  • Dig-Safe Coordination
  • Other campus data collection activities and project assistance as required

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assisting UNH staff with:

  • data collection, interpretation and analyses related to campus energy, transportation or infrastructure projects
  • field work including dig safe, GIS data collection

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • demonstrated communication skills; the ability to work independently as well as in a team situation; good interpersonal skills; functional math comprehension
  • basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word required)
  • ability to complete field measurements and assist GIS staff with data collection using remote instruments. Moderate physical activity and light lifting.
  • minimum 8 hours availability per week on flexible schedule with a maximum of 24 hours per week on a week to week project basis
  • valid driver's license

Library Student Assistant

Hours per week: Varies by department, summer hours typically between 10-37.5 hours per week.
Pay Rate: $7.25 per hour.
Location of Position: UNH Libraries (Dimond Library or one of the four branch libraries).

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Hours and duties vary by hiring department - most summer positions typically offer 10-37.5 hours per week. Computer use exists in all positions. Most positions require customer service in person, by phone and/or by email. Other general duties include shelving, checking order of books on shelves, scanning, clerical tasks and projects as they arise.  Most positions require lifting piles of books, pushing heavy book carts, and bending repeatedly. All positions require daytime hours; most positions also require night and weekend work. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants with summer work study strongly preferred (please apply for and find out your summer work study award BEFORE filling out an application).
