Purpose of the In-situ Testing
To expose six (6) full scale HPC slabs to actual road and environmental conditions


Slab Specifications
Size: 4 feet wide by 14 feet long by 8.5 inches thick
Three HPC mix designs (FHWA proposed HPC definitions)
  1. Grade 1 strength f'c > 6000 psi
  2. Grade 2 freeze thaw durability (rel. dyn. mod. after 300 cycles > 80%
  3. Grade 2 chloride penetration (< 1000 coulombs)
Each mix design had a deck slab specimen reinforced with:
  1. a black reinforcing steel bar and
  2. an epoxy coated reinforcing steel bar
Bare concrete wearing surface
Single 10' - 6" span
