Why did you choose to become a Hall Director?
I feel as though in this position interaction with students is more frequent. You don’t have to force them to come to you because they are already there. My hope is to make an impact on students, no matter how minimal, as long as it is positive. I strive to be an influence. Living on campus can be stressful, but can also be one of, if not the most, worthwhile experience a student can have if facilitated purposefully.
Why did you choose to work for Res Life at the University of New Hampshire?
As soon as I arrived on campus I felt welcomed. The people of UNH and of the Res Life department made my decision very easy.
What advice would you give to students?
Get out of your room, meet new people, learn outside of the classroom, ask questions, share your experiences, and get involved. Nothing will come easy because most things that come easy aren’t worth having. Stay focused and stay motivated! “Without Struggle, There is No Progress”- Frederick Douglass.
