Amber Litterer, REAP 2013

Amber Litterer, REAP 2013

Amber, originally from Grafton, MA, is a Zoology major and serves on the Campus Activities Board. Below, Amber speaks about the work she will be doing for her REAP project:

I helped out this past semester with a graduate student's research in aquaponics, a sustainable food production system that combines aquaculture with hydroponics. The project that I will be working on is a study on river herring, a species of fish close to being listed as endangered. A few things we will be looking at include how salt water affects the young larvae, how to effectively disinfect and remove adhesion between eggs, as well as methods to raise juvenile populations in artificial systems.
