Lisa Edwards, REAP 2013 Lisa is from Denver, CO and developed a passion for science when she took biology and a medical careers class in high school. She is a Genetics major and also a part of many programs including the leadership certificate program, PrOVES, and intramurals. For my REAP project, I will be studying the DNA damage and repair system in the plant Arabidopsis thaliana. I will grow and study mutant lines of Arabidopsis that will not have functioning RPA1a and RPA1c and lines with either RPA1a or RPA1c being a non-functional gene and compare those to a wild type line. By growing these plant lines we can assess how RPA1c is involved in recombination during meiosis and if the results support the hypothesis. |
