How to Prevent Spam/Phishing:

Only give your E-mail address to people you know.
Never reply to the senders of E-mails who you do not know. Replying to unknown senders will only confirm that your E-mail account is active and will only encourage spammers to sell your address to other spammers, resulting in more spam.
Spammers get hold of lists of E-mails. If you belong to an on-campus group, it is possible that a spammer will get hold of an E-mail list for that group. Ask people you know if they, too, have gotten the spam/phishing E-mail.
