The Healthy UNH Action Committee developed the following vision and values to shape the future work of Healthy UNH:
Vision: UNH will be the healthiest campus community in the country by 2020.
Values:
- Transforming health care delivery
- Creating value for the money we invest in medical care
- Ensuring that the care we purchase is the right care at the right time
- Following medical care practices that are evidence-based
- Improving the health of our entire community, spanning multiple locations and audiences
- Sustaining health and health care
- Collaborating across our community
- Engaging and educating our community
- Advancing mental and physical well-being
- Promoting work/life balance
The Institute of Medicine defines health as “a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources as well as physical capabilities. Improving health is a shared responsibility of health care providers, public health officials, and a variety of other actors in the community who can contribute to the well-being of individuals and populations.” Healthy UNH will use this definition of health as it develops measurable criteria to become the healthiest campus community in the country by 2020.
