Tips for de-stressing:
- Go for a walk around your building. It could be as quick as five minutes, but the magic of some fresh air will boost your mood instantly.
- Socialize by eating in the employee lounge. Make a deal that you won’t talk about work during your breaks. It should be a relaxed friendly atmosphere to go to and get away from your office or desk.
- Listen to fun music for a mood booster, or listen to calming music with some breathing exercises. These can both be done right in the office but won’t disrupt others still working and will allow you to clear your mind during the break.
These are just a few ideas that can help you make the most of your next lunch break. If you think of your body as a vehicle on a long road trip, you have to pull off at a pit-stop, refuel, and then continue the trip. This is just like the work day in the sense that you cannot be productive for 8-10 hours at a time without a proper break. Taking time to focus on yourself could be very valuable to your productivity level and your overall mental health. If you make little adjustments like these, you will find yourself less stressed and more in control of your work environment. Remember, those breaks are there for a reason!
