With spring in the air that can only mean one thing… nice weather! While some people choose to brave it and exercise outdoors in the winter, many of us confine ourselves to the gym until the temperatures begin to increase again. With warmer weather and sunny days what better time than now to find some fun physical activities to do outdoors? Here are some ideas on how to incorporate physical activity into your day while having fun outdoors:
Hit the Trails
One great way to incorporate some outdoor physical activity is go for a walk or run in College Woods. The trails are well kept and provide miles of beautiful views to enjoy while walking or running. Ride a Bike
Another great way to get some exercise and have fun is ride a bike. Riding through the neighborhoods surrounding campus is a great way to get some physical activity and have fun while avoiding the stop and go nature of biking downtown.
It may be a bit too early, but once the weather warms up try going for a swim. Here in Durham there are several options. You can hit the Outdoor Pool, check out the indoor pool or even go for a swim in the Lamprey River! Swimming is a great cardiovascular and is easy on your joints!
There are many more opportunities to have some fun and fit in some physical activity all while soaking up the sun. So get outside, do what you love and stay healthy while doing it!
