The Cardiac Prevention Program is an exercise and education program for anyone with cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors who wishes to improve overall health and well-being to reduce future risk. Exercise testing and prescriptions are developed and monitored according to an individual’s needs and goals. $200 for pre- and post-health and fitness assessments and 24 exercise session. Participants may choose to continue for $5/session after first 24 sessions.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) Program is an exercise and education program for anyone with known cardiovascular disease (CVD) who has previously participated in an ECG-monitored Phase II CR program and wishes to continue regularly exercising in a monitored environment. Exercise prescriptions are developed and monitored according to continue progression from the Phase II CR program according to the individual’s needs and goals. $5/session.
How To Access:
The Exercise Science program offers Community Testing services conducted by faculty and graduate students in the Exercise Physiology Laboratory. Some of the fee-for-assessment evaluations include blood lipid analysis, body composition analysis, submaximal and maximal graded exercise tests, and anaerobic threshold (lactic acid) testing. Slow Food at the University of New Hampshire is a collective effort to educate students, faculty, and the local Durham community about the production, consumption, and enjoyment of foods that are Good to the senses, Clean for the environment, and sold through Fair practices that support local economies. This student-lead group has also joined on with the the national Real Food Challenge and their Get REal! Campaign.
The UNH Organic Garden Club (OGC) is a student-run organization established in 2003. OGC is part of the Food & Society Initiative of the UNH Sustainability Institute, which seeks to create a sustainable food system at UNH and to integrate issues of sustainable food and agriculture into the curriculum, operations, research, and engagement efforts at the University. OGC maintains a two-acre farm on the Campus-Community Farm, a 30-acre USDA certified organic site.
NH Farm to School (NHFTS) is a statewide program working to connect NH farms and schools. Farm to school connections enable schools to serve healthy, locally grown foods in their cafeterias, integrate farms, food, and nutrition into their curriculum, and explore food and agriculture-based learning opportunities.
