Medical Services

Tobacco Use Cessation, Education, and Counseling

Health Services offers many tobacco cessation options such as nicotine replacement therapy, hypnosis, medical acupuncture, and prescription medication. Education, the resource library, and online resources are available. Education/information are free to the UNH community. Counseling is available to students who have paid the health fee, at no additional cost. There is a fee for students who have not paid the health services fee. Tobacco cessation options are available for an additional cost.

Chronic Illness Care

Health Services provides medical care, education and support for students with chronic illnesses with a philosophy of helping individuals to self-manage while providing education and support so they can continue classes and daily activities and manage the changing emotions and symptoms which may be brought about by chronic illness. Education and information is free to the UNH community. Counseling is free to students who have paid the health fee and for a fee for students who have not paid the health fee.

Allergy and Immunization Services

Allergy shots and routine immunizations are available to faculty, staff, and students and all employees for a fee.  Students must bring their orders and serum to the first appointment and may store their serum at Health Services.

Primary Care Services

Primary care services (examples  inlcude respiratory illnesse, all kinds of injuries, mental health concerns, intestinal disorders, dermatologic and much more) are offered at no additional cost to students who have paid the health fee. Primary care visits are available to students who have not paid the health fee for a fee. Acute care medical services are available to all employees for a fee. Additionall fees apply for laboratory, injections, pharmacy, and radiology services.

Speech-Language-Hearing Center

The UNH Speech-Language-Hearing Center provides evaluation and treatment to individuals of all ages who demonstrate a variety of communication concerns and differences.

Medical Acupuncture

Health Services provides acupuncture for students for a cost. Ear acupuncture is performed for smoking cessation and stress reduction and body acupuncture is provided for acute and chronic muscular pain and chronic headaches.

Immediate Health Information and Education

Students can call Triage Nurse for self-care information. Also available is an online resource guide that provides information to students for making better health care decisions is also available on the Health Services website. The triage nurse is available at no cost to students who have paid the health fee, and for a fee for students who have not paid the health fee. Online resources are free for the UNH Community.

Biometric Screenings are offered twice yearly by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, with incentives for meeting health goals.

Each year, the seasonal flu makes its way to campus resulting in missed days of work and classes.

After Hours Medical Care

During the academic year, Heath Services has an agreement with Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, in Dover, to provide after-hours care for students whose medical needs cannot wait for Health Services to reopen.  Under this agreement, students pay co-payments based upon the level of care they recieve. After Hours Care is available to students who have paid the health fee.
