The Outdoor Recreation Area is a beautiful 200-acre site just nine miles from Durham. The pond is located on the Little River, a tributary of the Lamprey River and part of the larger Piscataqua River watershed. The Area is perfect for boating and picnicking. Two picnic pavilions are provided and canoes and paddle boats are available for rent. Swimming is permitted, however, there are no lifeguards on duty. 

The UNH Bouldering wall is a 260 square foot climbing structure located in the Hamel Recreation Center. It was built in 2005 thanks to the generous support of the UNH Parents Association. Students and members of Hamel Recreation Center are welcome to use the wall free of charge. Climbers must fill out a climbing wall waiver prior to climbing. Climbing shoes are available for free at the recreation center's equipment window on the ground floor.

Campus Recreation offers 24 + intramural sports to roughly 4,000 students. Competition ranges from competitive to recreational, and most major sports offer men's, women's, and co-rec leagues to 140 to 220 teams including Broomball, Flag Football, Soccer, Basketball, Floor Hockey, Volleyball, Indoor Soccer, Ice Hockey, Innertube Water Polo, Softball, and more.

The Exercise Science program offers Community Testing services conducted by faculty and graduate Laboratory. Some of the fee-for-assessment evaluations include blood lipid analysis, body composition analysis, submaximal and maximal graded exercise tests, and anaerobic threshold (lactic acid) testing. Health Services Radiology Department performs most standard dianostic x-rays.  All x-rays take at HealthServices are reviewed by a local Radiologist.  An x-ray order from from a Health Services Medical Clinician,  Employee Clinic Medical Clinician  or off-campus heatlhcare provider is required before scheduling any x-rays.

Whether you are traveling abroad for fun or for academic/professional reasons, all your medical travel needs can be met conveniently at Health Services during the academic year through the state-approved travel clinic. It is recommended that you schedule your travel clinic visit at least 4-6 weeks before you plan to leave. If students have paid the health fee, visits to the travel clinic are covered, immunizations are charged at a reduced rate. Clinic visit and immunizations are charged at a reduced rate for faculty, staff and adjunct employees.

Students and employees who are GLBTQQIA (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, or Allies), will find a safe haven within Health Services. Health Services has gay and gay-friendly staff who are supportive and affirming to all GLBTQQIA students.  Education, a resource library, and online resources are available. Education/information is free to the UNH Community. Counseling available to students who have paid the health fee, at no additional cost. Students who have not paid the health services fee have an additional cost.

Health Services uses a team approach to provide medical care for a large variety of common concerns.  Examples include respiratory illnesses, all kinds of injuries, mental health concerns, asthma, dermatologic and intestinal disorders, and much more. Appointments are available with medical providers at no cost. Additional costs apply for laboratory, injections, pharmacy, and radiology services.

Health Services has prescriptions medications and limited non-prescription medications(at reduced cost compared to local retailers) available for a fee for students. UNH employees can access the Pharmacy in conjunction with acute care visits.  Many low cost generic prescriptions are available for $5.  Faculty and staff can use their flexible spending account (FSA) to cover co-payments
