The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course is to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drowning and injuries. This course includes First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer-Lifeguard, and AED.
American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Classes are open to the public and fee based. Harvard Pilgrim Health Care subscribers can use their health education reimbursement benefit to pay for the classes.

Located at Philbrook Dining Hall. All foods here are prepared exclusively with ingredients that do not contain gluten (barley, wheat, rye) plus the 8 most common food allergens: milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybean. Fresh prepared selections for Lunch and Dinner feature whole food items including a protein entrée, vegetable, grain, soup, vegetarian chili and two salads. Guests must use an empty, clean plate when approaching the station – no food is to be brought to the station in order to reduce the risk of allergen cross-contact.
We assist guests who have varying degrees of nutrition needs, from gluten-free diets, to multiple food allergies and intolerances. From menu tags on the service lines outlining potential allergens, to online menus, gluten-friendly zones and an online special meal service, UNH Dining is able to assist.

Slow Food at the University of New Hampshire is a collective effort to educate students, faculty, and the local Durham community about the production, consumption, and enjoyment of foods that are Good to the senses, Clean for the environment, and sold through Fair practices that support local economies. This student-lead group has also joined on with the the national Real Food Challenge and their Get REal! Campaign.
The UNH Organic Garden Club (OGC) is a student-run organization established in 2003. OGC is part of the Food & Society Initiative of the UNH Sustainability Institute, which seeks to create a sustainable food system at UNH and to integrate issues of sustainable food and agriculture into the curriculum, operations, research, and engagement efforts at the University. OGC maintains a two-acre farm on the Campus-Community Farm, a 30-acre USDA certified organic site.
