Weight Watchers at Work

Attend weekly Weight Watchers meetings at work. This program is available to all employees for a fee. Harvard Pilgrim Subscribers can pay up front and get reimbursed up to $200 by Harvard Pilgrim through the health education benefit.

24 Hours a day hotline, to call for help dealing with alcohol and other substance abuse issues. The Center also provides extensive information and resources on their website alcohol, drugs, detoxing, intervention, and addiction help.

Smokefree.gov

A program created by the National Cancer Insitute, Smokefree.gov offers short and long-term tools and resources to help individuals understand the risks of tobacco and how to help them quit. Smokefree.gov also offers a quitline; trained counselors who can text or talk over the phone about a wide arrange of tobacco and quitting topics.

Fitness Club Membership Program

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care subscribers are eligible to recieve a $500 benefit per year (one member per household) for a health club membership that is payable to a selected participating health club.

Water Fitness Classes

Water Fitnness Classes are basic aerobic class in shallow or deep water offering less impact for the same intensity as a land-based aerobic class. This class is set to music and starts with a warm up, moving into the aerobic segment, cooling down, and finishing with stretches. This class is free to students and members of the Hamel Recreation Center and Pool Pass Holders. All others must pay a fee of $7 per class.

Mendums Pond

The Outdoor Recreation Area is a beautiful 200-acre site just nine miles from Durham. The pond is located on the Little River, a tributary of the Lamprey River and part of the larger Piscataqua River watershed. The Area is perfect for boating and picnicking. Two picnic pavilions are provided and canoes and paddle boats are available for rent. Swimming is permitted, however, there are no lifeguards on duty.

UNH Community Testing Program

The Exercise Science program offers Community Testing services conducted by faculty and graduate Laboratory. Some of the fee-for-assessment evaluations include blood lipid analysis, body composition analysis, submaximal and maximal graded exercise tests, and anaerobic threshold (lactic acid) testing. Peripheral Artery Disease Exercise Prgoram

The Peripheral Artery Disease Exercise Program is for individuals with a clinical diagnosis of peripheral artery disease (PAD). It is for anyone with this condition who wishes to improve overall health and well-being through exercise and education about lifestyle modification for the improvement of symptoms usually felt with normal activities of daily living. Exercise testing and prescriptions are developed and monitored according to a research-proven PAD exercise protocol and the individual’s needs and goals.

UNH Employee Fitness Program

The UNH Employee Fitness Program (EFP) is housed in the Field House overlooking the main gym floor on the UNH-Durham campus and is approximately 3,600 square feet in size.  A wide variety of state-of-the-art aerobic, strength, balance exercise training equipment is available.  Graduate and Undergraduate Exercise Science students are actively engaged in this program under the guidance of a faculty member.  All EFP participants undergo extensive testing that culminates in an exercise prescription followed by personal training.  Recruitment for this Program is during the Fa
